Quietly nestled in the Khumbu region, the peak stands gleaming at an altitude of 6,476m. The summit gives an overview of five world’s tallest mountains Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), and Mt.Kanchanjunga (8586m). While the peak itself consists of three main summits; Mera Central (6,461m), Mera South (6,065m), and Mera North (6,476m). Before becoming a popular trekking region, it was explored by the British expedition team including Eric Shipton, Edmund Hillary, Tenzing Norgay, and George Lowe.

Best Adventure Travels welcome the explorer to the land of Himalayas. At the Tribhuvan International Airport, the tour operator shall greet and transfer all the trekkers to the hotel.

Early morning, we shall be boarding the flight to Lukla. For around 40 minutes we shall explore the scenic view of Nepal from the sky. On landing to Tenzing-Hillary airport (Lukla Airport), we meet the porters who shall accompany us and then proceed towards Paiya.
An easy 5-6 hours hike to Paiya takes us to the wooden yards, thick forest of birch, pines, silver, and rhododendron. Before entering thick forest below Kalo Himal Ridge, we across through several tiny hamlets. We trail from Lukla goes straightly upwards and cross bridge over Handikhola before reaching Surkhe village.
We take the steady path and cross Chutok La Pass, Kharka (yak grazing field) and finally reach a small settlement of Paiyan, which is settled at an elevation of 2730m (8954 ft).

From Paiyan we cross steep path of Kari La Pass (3145m/10318ft) and the journey continues with the spectacular views of Karyolang peak, Numbur Himal, Kongdi Ri and other glorious white range. On a narrow mountain trail, we shall encounter bamboo forests and catch an awe glimpse of Dudh Koshi valley.
During the route to Panggom, we take a break in Karte. Moving ahead we may encounter troops of Yak and get a nice glimpse of contrasting snow and jungle. Though we continue walking, we descend to Panggom, Morley towards the settling area and after 6-7 hours of walking and rest time, we finally conclude the trek at Panggom.

Today’s destination is Nigsow, residing at a height of 2863m (9390ft), the beautiful Sherpa village is a densely populated. To reach the place, we cross the Panggom La Pass and turn towards north.
Our journey towards Nigsow, make us navigate the woods and several water streams. But before reaching the destination we cross Peseng Kharka Khola and reach Peeng Kharka Danda. The trail slopes downwards to the rock-strewn path leading to the fine vantage point of Nigsow valley. The pavement zigzags through the forest area, and cross Ningsow Khola before reaching Nigsow.

Our first interesting view taking site for today will be Ramailo Danda. From Pangum we take the thin ridgeline to the Zattar Danda, to get an ultimate jagged view of Hinku Valley, Trakshindo Lake, Numbur, and Dudh Koshi.
From the Hinku Valley river, the first glimpse of Mera Peak. From Sibuji we walk towards Chettra Khola, to open pasture Ningsow, and then to Ramailo Danda.
After spending an hour or two we descend downwards to enter Makalu Barun National Park.
We leave the high-end mountains behind and conclude the walking session of 6-7 hours at Chhatra Khola which is at 2800m (9184 ft).

We take the north trial from Chhatra Khola to Mera Peak. We move alongside of Hinku Khola which is just next to the walking trial of Majang Khola. On our way we encounter an abandoned hut at Shasamba where we shall follow the upstream of the river which will gradually take us through the lusty rhododendron forest and make our way to the settlement of Kothe village, through the banks of Hinku River.
On our destination, we see the fresh flowing water of Tashing Khola, Chhatra Khola, Majang Khola, Tashing Ongma and Sanu Khola.

Onward from Kothe, we pass several forests of Juniper, and other local vegetation. While we leave Kothe behind we follow the west bank of riverbed which stretches to Tanknak (4358m). The path gradual ascent for a much closer view to Kusum Kanguru peak, Mera La, and Mt. Charpate. We reach the settlement of Gondishung from where we can see the south version of Mera Peak.
Moving forward to the eastern side of Mera, we come across a monastery, Lungsumgba Gompa (the 200-year-old monastery) set under a large rock. An ancient belief remains with the Gompa, hence, a special ritual by offering Juniper incense is offered by the Sherpa people. From Gompa, a short walk takes us to the grazing land of Thaknak.

Leaving Thaknak behind, we take the route of lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka offering a spectacular glimpse of Charpate Himal. This is a short but significant hiking for altitude adaptation, and for connecting with Kang Teiga, Kusum Kanguru (north) and Hinku Nup glacier.
The trial levels to sandy flats, grassy moraine ridges leading us towards Mera Base Camp, which is just opposite to the north-west settlement of Mera Peak. With out hustling further we quietly reside at the Khare village which is at 5040m (16531 ft).

To make the whole climbing trip a successful one, acclimatization is a must. This is the first acclimatization of the Mera Peak climbing trip, where basic training for climbing and gear utilizing techniques are taught. The team leader shall instruct the best methods to use the instruments such as crampons, ice axe, climbing boots and harness, followed by a rope-climbing method.
Depending on the weather, a short walk is planned to get a view of the trekking routes to Mera Peak, where we shall also practice climbing at glaciers.

Following the rocky trail, we cross Mera La Pass. The route we walk today, can be a bit hazardous if it filled with snow. With a gradual traverse we reach Advanced Base Camp which is just beneath the Mera La Pass.
We continue with the High Camp travel, where we shall be blessed by the remarkable vistas of Mt. Makalu (8475m), Baruntse (7220m), Chamlang (7290m), Cho Oyu (8153m), and Mt. Lhotse (8501m).
Mera High Camp resides above the Majhong glacier which is at a height of 5780m (18,958 ft).

The major day of the whole expedition. Our day begins at 2:00 am in the morning for the climbing of peak. The weather in Mera High Camp is extremely cold, so we prepare ourselves to beat every rising challenge. From peculiar ridge, we move on to the Mera Glacier.
We embark our voyage to steep routes (260m). The time taken to reach the base camp is 2-3 hours, but our destination is high above the camp, hence we move upfront. With thin air and slope steep routes, the view of summit comes into sight. Relentlessly, we move higher and scale the summit.
As we will be reaching the summit before sunrise, we will catch the sun rays gloriously pondering on the Himalayas. A breath-catching views of Mt. Cho Oyu (8210m), Mt. Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Chamlang (7319m), Ama Dablam (6812m), Baruntse (7129m) is seen and felt.
After spending a few hours in the snow-capped top, we headed back to Khare taking the same ascending trial.

For the traveler’s flexibility a contingency day is added, where the climbers get a day off to rest. After ascending the Mera Peak for nearly 10-12 hours, a daybreak is needed. Another reason is the unpredictable weather of the Himalayas, which can strain the whole schedule. Depending on the scenario a plan is framed.

We trace the trail back to Kothe, which is at the height of 3691m (12106 ft). The walk goes through the Hinku valley, to Kothe. The downhill is easy to walk, however, if gets trapped by a beaten stormy weather than, the whole descending process gets slightly difficult as the walking pace declines. After walking for nearly 4-5 hours we enjoy the glorious ascent to Mera Peak at Kothe.

We descend to Thuli Kharka with a strong sense of achievement. Through the west side of the Hinku valley we go through the lush forest covered with Rhododendron and alpine ridges. We cross the familiar trial and begin a steady walk through the forest before reaching Dhaktowe.
Followingly, the journey crosses several tributaries of InkhuKhola before reaching the Taktho. After passing the trail at Chorten we ascend to Thuli Kharka, located at a height of 4300m (14104 ft). The 6-7 hours walk, will replenish us with a full range view of Mera North, Mera Peak, Mera South, and Mera Central.

Before descending steep towards the Dudh Kosi valley, we cross the exciting Zatrwa La Pass (4600m). We shall opt the way via Chutanga which offers an excellent view of Mera Peak from various angles. The trial passes through the deep descent towards the rocky outcrop of Kharkithanga. As we pass the trials, we start to see the beautiful mountains Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Numbur Himal, Kongde Peak, Kusum Khangru and other associated peaks. We shall continue to descend Lukla, a small town in Khumbu Pasanglhamu, situated at 2,860 meters (9383 ft), the place is popular place amongst the climbers.

This day is labeled as a contingency day, as the weather might delay the flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. However, if landed earlier a complimentary exploring trip is planned by Best Adventure Travel.
On reaching early, we shall walk through the ancient street of Indra Chowk and Ason. The busiest area, showcasing the high ends of Newari culture. The place is a major trading center. From there we shall continue to walk on the same lane towards Basantapur area. The area holds a strong cultural impact, as there is Kathmandu Durbar Square (UNESCO listed World Heritage Site), built by the Malla Kings, and Kumari Ghar, the residence of living goddess.
In the evening a farewell dinner shall be offered with sharing a great experience of the trip as a good feedback.

We can enjoy Nepalese food as well Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, during Mera Peak Trek and Climbing. We will have breakfast dinners in the lodges from their menu and lunch will be provided in the tea houses while walk every day. All three meals will be served on trek and exclusive breakfast will be provided in cities like in Kathmandu.
