The durbar is divided into various sections where we get to see the foreign collaborations and their gifts, queens’ attire, coins used for trade, and other materials used in the 18th century. On the outer edge of Durbar, is the Kumari Ghar, the residence of Living Goddess of Nepal. The Basantapur is airy and ideal place for a mini break for the locals.
Our next destination is the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the monkey temple. The stupa is located at the hilltop and gives a charming view of Kathmandu city. This place manifest religious essence and guides the visitor to spiritualism.
From Swayambhu we descend to Baudhanath, which is inside the centric area of Kathmandu. The Buddhist followers take a full circular walk around the stupa by reciting hymns or by burning scented candles remembering lord Buddha.
The last destination for the day is Pashupatinath, the religious place for Hinduism. Disciples from all over the world come to worship Lord Shiva, hence the place always remain filled with worshippers. The pagoda style temple is surrounded by other mini shrines, and the sacred Bagmati river. The banks of Bagmati is used as the crimination point of the Nepalese people.
Patan and Bhaktapur never fails to charm the visitors through its crafted arts. Though both the city is occupied by the Newari communities, the culture and tradition practices are totally different. The people of Bhaktapur are mainly engaged in agriculture and pottery while the Newars of Patan are engaged in metal crafts. Therefore, in Bhaktapur we see more of wooden and clay artistic works while in Patan we observe finely crafted metal works including idols, gates, and monuments. Both the places are popular for Durbar squares and offer flashback of their own ancient practices followed by the rulers. In Patan we explore, Patan Durbar Square, Krishna Mandir, Golden Gate while in Bhaktapur we closely monitor 55 window durbar, Nyata pola temple, stone-built water spout, and brick made courtyards.
From Kathmandu we fly to Nepalgunj. The flight timing is approximately 45 minutes, and from the hilly areas we shall be landing on the flat planes of Nepal. From Nepalgunj, we take a 2-hour drive to reach Bardia, which is nearly 90kms from the airport. On reaching hotel we shall take a quick refreshment and march to Bardia National Visitor Center and take a tour of Crocodile centers. Must say, informative and entertaining section of the trip. On completion, we roam around the nearby villages and return back to the hotel.
The jungle safari begins by boarding the elephant back. The reason why we do elephant safari is that, we can see the animals from a greater height, and far sight. The overall scenic view of dense jungle, and animals walking in the high grass lands can be instantly captured. There are less chances of missing the beautiful sights of animals and birds. Moreover, riding elephants back with a trained mauth (rider) makes us enjoy the ride thoroughly. On finishing the elephant ride, we walk towards the local community of Bardia and interact with the local people, hear their adventurous story and return back.
Another phase of adventure begins, as we drive to Chisapani, a village nestled near Karnali river. We take on float safari, to closely experience the wildlife of western region. We float in Karnali, and admire the sub-tropical landscape, colorful birds, and plentiful of wildlife. While floating in Karnali, we may get accompanied by the aquatic animals, endangered water species such as crocodiles, dolphins, and mugger. The float safari is amazing! Furthermore, the bird watching activities encounters us to numerous migratory and resident birds. After all the activities performed throughout the day, we end the day with a cultural program, organized by the Tharu community.
Experience the woods on foot. We walk into the preserved areas of Bardia National Park. A trained guide shall accompany us, and take us to the areas, where we can spot hog deer, barking deer, golden jackal, tiger, leopard, and hyena. As we go dense, we may see herds of deer, hear the insects and birds playing jungle orchestra. The cacophony of the long tail monkeys, and the river side vantage would want us to have more of it. Inside the jungle, a ‘Machan’ (tower) is constructed, where we can sit and wait for the wild animals to pass by. On circling the periphery of the jungle, we return back and catch a flight back to Kathmandu.
In Kathmandu, one can enjoy the leisure time, can go shopping, enjoy a hearty meal or try other continental food as Thamel is filled with national and international food courts.
The Bardia Jungle Safari comes to an end. We pick the travelers from hotel and drop them to the airport before three hours of their flight schedule. We thank you for believing in Best Adventure Travel and hope to see you soon!
